Manufacturing Process of ERW Pipes

The ERW production process involves a sophisticated series of steps to convert high-grade, low-carbon steel coils into finished pipes. The steel is first cut and edge-prepared, then run through roll-forming stations that shape it into a cylinder. The edges are then heated to fusion temperature by high-frequency current and welded together under mechanical pressure, without filler metal. The seam is immediately induction heat-treated to normalize the seam and ensure a homogeneous microstructure. Finally finishing rolls size and straightening the pipe. Flying saws cut it to length, and ultrasonic and hydrostatic testing check the structural integrity before protective surface coatings are applied.
