Metal Yard produces EFW pipes in stainless steel, duplex, super duplex, carbon steel, alloy steel, nickel alloy, and copper nickel grades. The process fuses a formed plate or coil along the seam using electric welding, with no filler added. That single-seam construction lets manufacturers produce large diameters and heavier walls that the seamless construction struggles with.
Stainless grades cover TP-304, TP-316, TP-321, TP-347, and several variants in between. Plain or beveled ends, depending on what the installation needs. Duplex and super duplex pipes go through controlled hot or cold working to achieve the target mechanical properties. Copper nickel EFW pipes in C70600 and C71500 run through automatic welding setups that hold wall thickness and ovality tight.
Nickel alloy grades including Inconel 625, Hastelloy C276, and Monel 400 go into corrosive service in oil and gas, offshore structures, and chemical plants. Every pipe batch clears PMI, hydrostatic testing, hardness checks, and flattening or flaring tests before it leaves the facility. Mill test certificates and third-party inspection reports are available on request.

Oil and gas transmission pipelines account for a large share of EFW pipe demand, particularly in larger diameters where seamless production becomes uneconomical. Carbon steel and API 5L grades do most of that work.
Petrochemical and chemical processing plants pull stainless and nickel alloy grades for acid lines, reactor feed circuits, and chloride-heavy environments where carbon steel corrodes within months. Power plants, both thermal and gas-fired, use alloy steel EFW pipes in boiler circuits and superheater lines running above 500°C.
Offshore structures need seawater resistance without coating dependence. Copper, nickel and super duplex EFW pipes cover that. On shore, water treatment and desalination plants use stainless steel EFW pipes for distribution lines where cleanliness and corrosion life both matter.
Heat exchangers and condensers use EFW pipes as pressure boundary components around tube bundles. Pressure vessel nozzle connections and boiler shell circuits also rely on EFW pipes, where weld seam integrity directly affects the pressure certification outcome.
Production starts with plate or coil selection against the target grade's chemical and mechanical requirements. Incoming material clears physical and chemical checks before anything moves to forming.
Edge preparation trims and aligns both strip edges so the fusion line forms without gaps or misalignment. The plate or strip then gets roll-formed or press-bent into a cylinder, depending on the diameter and wall thickness in question.
Welding joins the seam by electric fusion. No filler material enters the joint. Localised heat at the interface fuses both edges under controlled pressure. For alloy steel and thick-wall stainless grades, post-weld heat treatment follows to relieve residual stress.
Sizing and straightening brings the pipe within dimensional tolerance. Surface finishing, pickling, passivation or polishing, depends on the end use and buyer specification. Final inspection runs hydrostatic pressure tests, radiographic examination of the weld seam and full dimensional checks. Pipes that pass get marked, stenciled, and packed for dispatch.
All EFW pipes at Metal Yard are manufactured to ASTM, ASME, and API standards. That applies across every material group, not just the common grades.
Custom sizes, wall thicknesses, and cut lengths are available. Standard dimensions go out from stock. Non-standard orders run against confirmed lead times. Weld integrity and dimensional checks are carried out at several points in production, not only at the end. Each batch undergoes PMI, hardness, hydrostatic and flattening tests.
Third party inspection can be arranged for the buyer. Export grade packaging consists of wooden crating, end caps, and moisture protection where necessary. Mill certificates, QAP, and heat treatment records are included with the material shipment.

ERW uses high-frequency resistance to create weld heat at the seam edges, whereas EFW employs electric arc fusion. EFW is more consistent for thicker walls and larger diameters compared to ERW.
EFW pipes are utilized in oil and gas pipelines, petrochemical plants, boiler circuits, offshore structures, desalination systems, heat exchangers, and nozzle connections for pressure vessels.
Pipes produced to ASTM A358 or API 5L and tested to the hydrostatic requirement carry pressure ratings on par with seamless pipes at the same schedule and diameter.
Stainless steel, duplex, super duplex, carbon steel, alloy steel, Inconel, Hastelloy, Monel, Incoloy, and copper nickel grades are all available.
Metal Yard supplies 1/8" NB to 24" NB, with OD up to 24" and wall thickness from 4.0 mm to 100 mm, in round, square, and rectangular forms.
Seamless production above 16" NB gets expensive and lead times stretch. EFW reaches those diameters at lower cost with equivalent pressure performance when produced to standard.
Yes. Cut lengths, fix lengths, single random, and double random are all available. Non-standard wall thickness and OD get manufactured against confirmed orders.
